FAQ:

How old do I need to be to stay at the shelter?

Individuals staying at the shelter must be 18 years of age or older, with the exception of minors staying with at least one parent.

What time is check-in?

check-in times are 10 am, 1 pm and 6 pm every day of the week. Please call ahead or arrive prior to check-in time.

Is there a fee to stay at the shelter?

There is no fee.

I have a medical condition. Are there nurses on staff to help take care of me?

Our clients are expected to be able to live independently, while understanding, and respecting the ever-changing community living atmosphere the shelter emulates. There are multiple bunk beds in each dorm, and we do not have nurses on staff.

Can I bring my pet?

Because we are a family shelter, the only animals we can allow are certified service animals. If you are looking to temporarily rehome your pet while you stay with us, please call 2-1-1 to see if they can assist you.

What time is curfew?

Wake up is at 7:00 a.m. and curfew is 8:00 p.m. We encourage employment, and late passes will be provided for individuals who are employed and need to return after their shift has ended.

What are service hours?

This is intentional time to be working towards goals to quickly move out of homelessness. From 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (with the exception of lunch time, 11:30 am - noon), shelter clients should be out of the shelter seeking employment, attending appointments, and engaging in other activities necessary for their progress forward. During these hours, there are many places to go within walking distance and on the bus line, including the A.R.E. Drop-In Center, Home of New Vision, Michigan Works!, the YMCA, Jackson Public Library, Xcel Staffing Agency, local parks, and more.

During Service Hours there, are often classes and other opportunties within the shelter clients are encouraged to participate in as well.
